We are Listening

CHORUS

We are listening Lord

Searching the silence
We are listening Lord

For quiet whispers of truth

We are listening Lord

Speak into our longing souls

Convict and teach, refine and mold

We are listening.

Can you say...er, sing "Great Commission"?

And Jesus came and said to them, "All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age." -Matthew 28:18-20

For this reason the Father loves me, because I lay down my life that I may take it up again. No one takes it from me, but I lay it down of my own accord. I have authority to lay it down, and I have authority to take it up again. This charge I have received from my Father." -John 10:17-18

By this we know love, that he laid down his life for us, and we ought to lay down our lives for the brothers. -1 John 3:16

VERSE
All authority in heaven and earth
Has been given to Jesus Christ.
All power, to rescue and save
Is in the blood of His sacrifice.
Jesus chose his lay life down.
He asks the same of us.
How can we deny the one
In whom we put our trust?

CHORUS
Go therefore and make disciples
Of all nations, of all nations
Go therefore and make disciples
Go into the world
X 2

Possible BRIDGE?
Between 10 and 40 North,
are the people who just don’t know!
You can make disciples around the globe-
Will you send, will you pray, will you go?

Other Possible BRIDGE -
something chantlike with names of the 10/40 window countries

In related news...

I have officially been accepted as a degree candidate at Southern Seminary in Louisville, KY, and will be starting my first class toward an MDIV Worship in the fall!

Piecey, but working

This one has some three against two stuff metrically, which I think is cool. Lyrically it's coming in disjointed pieces, I've got holes to fill in to pull it together, but I like the direction it's going.
The concept spurring it "The weight of love" = the cross = light burden (Mat 11:30)
I was thinking about the healthy weight of committment to those we love, that Christ bore for us, then asked us to take up and follow him...

CHORUS
The weight of love, for a humble servant -
The weight of love is a burden light
The weight of love is a life surrendered
The weight of love is sacrifice.

VERSE 1 (first half, anyway)
He who would be first must be last
and a servant of all
None can serve two masters he must choose
Faith and selfishness call

VERSE 2 (second half, anyway)
Servant with whom I am pleased
Who came to teach, in word and deed

BRIDGE?
The weight of love was his alone to bear
The weight of love the cross of Christ we share

CHORUS2
The weight of love was our sin forgiven
The weight of love was a wooden cross
The weight of love was the Father's heartach
The weight of love both gain and loss

Being goofy with verses for "Your Will" right now, but have some nice imagery surfacing too... we'll see where it goes as I continue to work on it...

CHORUS
And I don't know what your will might be
But I know You will reveal it to me
In Your own time, and your own way
You give me what I need for each day

VERSE
I know You numbered every star in the sky
You tell the moon it's time to sleep
and draw the sun from the night
I know You clothe the grass
I know You clothe me
But I wanna know what's next could You reveal it to me?

ANOTHER UNFINISHED VERSE
4 Lines
I know You are the light
You make the blind see
Could You open up my eyes and give me one little peek?

Also would like to try to tackle a re-imagined (not word for word, but content wise) song for the Lord's Prayer.
Another phrase that is rolling around in my brain, "salt in His wounds, tears of the Father, healing our deepest pain"
