Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age." -Matthew 28:18-20

For this reason the Father loves me, because I lay down my life that I may take it up again. No one takes it from me, but I lay it down of my own accord. I have authority to lay it down, and I have authority to take it up again. This charge I have received from my Father." -John 10:17-18

By this we know love, that he laid down his life for us, and we ought to lay down our lives for the brothers. -1 John 3:16

VERSE
All authority in heaven and earth
Has been given to Jesus Christ.
All power, to rescue and save
Is in the blood of His sacrifice.
Jesus chose his lay life down.
He asks the same of us.
How can we deny the one
In whom we put our trust?

CHORUS
Go therefore and make disciples
Of all nations, of all nations
Go therefore and make disciples
Go into the world
X 2

Possible BRIDGE?
Between 10 and 40 North,
are the people who just don’t know!
You can make disciples around the globe-
Will you send, will you pray, will you go?

Other Possible BRIDGE -
something chantlike with names of the 10/40 window countries

In related news...

I have officially been accepted as a degree candidate at Southern Seminary in Louisville, KY, and will be starting my first class toward an MDIV Worship in the fall!
is cool. Lyrically it's coming in disjointed pieces, I've got holes to
fill in to pull it together, but I like the direction it's going.
The concept spurring it "The weight of love" = the cross = light burden (Mat 11:30)
I
was thinking about the healthy weight of committment to those we love,
that Christ bore for us, then asked us to take up and follow him...

CHORUS
The weight of love, for a humble servant -
The weight of love is a burden light
The weight of love is a life surrendered
The weight of love is sacrifice.

VERSE 1 (first half, anyway)
He who would be first must be last
and a servant of all
None can serve two masters he must choose
Faith and selfishness call

VERSE 2 (second half, anyway)
Servant with whom I am pleased
Who came to teach, in word and deed

BRIDGE?
The weight of love was his alone to bear
The weight of love the cross of Christ we share

CHORUS2
The weight of love was our sin forgiven
The weight of love was a wooden cross
The weight of love was the Father's heartach
The weight of love both gain and loss

Being goofy with verses for "Your Will" right now, but have some
nice imagery surfacing too... we'll see where it goes as I continue to
work on it...

CHORUS
And I don't know what your will might be
But I know You will reveal it to me
In Your own time, and your own way
You give me what I need for each day

VERSE
I know You numbered every star in the sky
You tell the moon it's time to sleep
and draw the sun from the night
I know You clothe the grass
I know You clothe me
But I wanna know what's next could You reveal it to me?

ANOTHER UNFINISHED VERSE
4 Lines
I know You are the light
You make the blind see
Could You open up my eyes and give me one little peek?

Also would like to try to tackle a re-imagined (not word for word, but content wise) song for the Lord's Prayer.
Another phrase that is rolling around in my brain, "salt in His wounds, tears of the Father, healing our deepest pain"

Some New Stuff

It's been a while, I know... here are a couple of song starts that I'm focusing in on right now...

The fear of the Lord
is the beginning of knowledge
The fear of the Lord
is the beginning of truth
If we believe that God is Almighty
Why don't we give Him
The honor He's due.

If He is the Potter
and we are the clay
Why do we try
to shape our own way
Our Maker has wisdom
and insight to share
He offers us guidance
through the word and through prayer.

I don't know what Your will might be
But I know You will reveal it to me
In Your own time and Your own way
You give me what I need for each day
Give me what I need for each day.
Forgive Them (start)

Father, forgive them,
for they know not what they do
Father, forgive them,
show them mercy, show them truth.

If Christ could cry out from the cross
Who are we to condemn the lost
Who are we to mock and scorn and shame
When Christ forgave

For if you forgive others
their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you, but if
you do not forgive others their trespasses, neither will your Father
forgive your trespasses.
-Matthew 6:14-15

And whenever you stand praying, forgive, if you have anything against
anyone, so that your Father also who is in heaven may forgive you your
trespasses." -Mark 11:25

"Judge not, and you will not be judged; condemn not, and you will not
be condemned; forgive, and you will be forgiven; give, and it will be
given to you. Good measure, pressed down, shaken together, running
over, will be put into your lap. For with the measure you use it will
be measured back to you." -Luke 6:37-38

Pay attention to yourselves! If your brother sins, rebuke him, and if
he repents, forgive him, and if he sins against you seven times in the
day, and turns to you seven times, saying, 'I repent,' you must forgive
him." -Luke 17:3-4

And when they came to the
place that is called The Skull, there they crucified him, and the
criminals, one on his right and one on his left. And Jesus said,
"Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do." And they cast
lots to divide his garments. -Luke 23:33-34

Put on then, as God's chosen ones, holy and beloved, compassion,
kindness, humility, meekness, and patience, bearing with one another
and, if one has a complaint against another, forgiving each other; as
the Lord has forgiven you, so you also must forgive. -Colossians 3:12-13

also Matthew 18:21-35
quite happy with the melody, and it's a little more focused lyrically,
I
think. Also this one has piano parts. I may write some harmonies/echoes
to go with. You can listen to a recording by visiting my
website...

We Confess

We confess, We have sinned
Fallen short of Your glory
We confess, We have sinned
Forgive us Lord
We confess, We have sinned
We seek forgiveness
We confess, We have sinned
Forgive us Lord

We have all sinned, all failed
Fallen to our flesh
Forgive us, cleanse our unrighteousness.
I've got lots of stuff in progress... here is a taste of a couple for ya!

You Are So Patient (in progress)

VERSE1
Lord, I could really use your help
I try things on my own, but I just fall and trip and hurt myself!
That's how you bring me to my knees
That when I look to you, I say "Father, help me please."
Why am I such a stubborn child?
Why does it always take a while?
Why do I always seem to fall flat on my face?
Again, you offer grace.

VERSE2
Lord, I could really use your help,
I get so turned around, somehow I'm outside in, not inside out.
I focus on my selfish needs,
Instead of serving you, I say "Father give me please."
Why am I such a selfish child
8 syllables of lyric
Why don't I look around instead of at my face?
Again, you offer grace.

CHORUS
You are so patient
So very patient
You are so patient
With every human life
Through all the ages
You've been so patient
When we ignore or fall away you set us right
We're never left

Steadfast Love (in progress)

How precious is your steadfast Love, Oh Lord,
Your faithfullness reaches to the heavens
How precious is your steadfast Love, Oh Lord,
Your faithfullness reaches to the clouds

Through all time
In every place and nation
In every heart, in every life
You have always proven faithful
8 syllables of lyric
